Ag Chríost an síol

Sliabh na mBan is a mountain in County Tipperary. The song is a lament for a battle lost.  You can find an English translation and pronunciation guide HERE.

Slow airs are best played as they are sung. Nioclas Toibin sings a lovely version of this.

Ag Chríost an Síol (to Christ the seed) is a piece of music written by Peadar Ó Riada. The music goes with lyrics from a Christian prayer - about how Christ is in everything- the seeds, the land, the fish, the sea, and how Christ looks after everybody. You can find an English translation and pronunciation guide HERE.

The score accompanying this is a rough guide. It is difficult to write slow airs on a score as they don't have a time signature- they are free and phrasing may differ slightly when played by different musicians.
